What does "Door Monitoring Contacts" mean?
The monitored option for Shear locks simply means that the magnet status of it can be monitored to determine and confirm if the Shear lock is locked or unlocked. Inside the Shear lock is a set of voltage free Hall Effect contacts providing Normally Open and Normally Closed contacts (N/O & N/C)

With these contacts you can connect them to a sounder, buzzer, alarm system, light or anything else that would require a voltage set of free contacts to trigger the device when the Shear lock and the armature plate is separated

I assume this item is for flush fitting only, but I want to mount the units on the surface of a door, what do I need?

You have an option called "Both items above", what does this mean?
If you have a frameless glass door and frameless glass header, then you need both brackets, you require the surface mount bracket as well as the glass housing cradle which are both supplied in pairs

What glass thickness can the brackets accommodate?
Frameless glass door/s with a frameless glass header must be 10mm - 13mm thick with a clearance gap between the door and header being a maximum of 6mm

Tech Tips
Periodically clean the surface of the Shear lock and armature plate, however, do not lubricate or oil the Shear lock
